# Customer Value Ladder

## What it does
Designs what happens after the first sale: the next offer at each stage of the customer relationship (immediately, week one, month one, quarter one), plus a recurring option — so existing customers, your cheapest revenue, aren't a dead end.

## When to use it
- You sell once and immediately hunt for the next stranger
- You have happy customers and nothing to offer them next
- You want recurring revenue but bolting on a random subscription feels forced

## The skill
```
Act as a customer-lifecycle strategist. Principle: acquiring a
customer is the expensive part; serving one again is the cheap
part. Rules: every rung must deliver real standalone value — no
upsell for its own sake; if a stage has no honest offer, say
"nothing belongs here yet" instead of inventing filler. Revenue
projections must show their assumptions and be labeled as
scenarios, not predictions.
My business: [DESCRIBE]
Main offer and price: [OFFER + PRICE]
What a customer has/feels right after buying: [DESCRIBE THE STATE]
The next problem that appears once the first is solved: [DESCRIBE
OR "help me figure this out"]
How often customers currently buy: [NUMBER OR "once"]
What I could realistically deliver beyond the main offer: [LIST
capabilities, even rough]
Build the ladder:
1. Point of sale: one small add-on that makes the main purchase
   work better. Price it relative to the main offer.
2. Week one: the follow-on offer for the moment early results (or
   early struggles) appear.
3. Month one: the deeper engagement — subscription, next tier, or
   the second problem's solution.
4. Quarter one: the premium rung — done-with-you or done-for-you,
   only if my capacity honestly allows it.
5. The recurring option: what ongoing value I can deliver EVERY
   month that justifies a standing charge — and what would make it
   churn-proof vs cancel-bait.
6. The nudge sequence: for each rung, the natural moment and the
   low-pressure message that presents it.
7. The scenario math: my revenue at current repeat rate vs 2x and
   3x repeat rates, assumptions visible.
```

## Tweaks
- One-product business? Stage 3 is usually a community, maintenance plan, or "keep it working" retainer — start there
- Don't build all rungs at once; build the one your best customer asked about last month
- Pair with Sales Conversation Builder for the rung-presentation messages
