# What Not to Paste

## What it does
Your personal firewall for AI. Before you paste something into a chatbot, this checks it for the things that shouldn't leave your control — passwords, full card numbers, other people's private data, work secrets — and shows you a safe, redacted version that still gets the job done.

## When to use it
- Before pasting a document, email, or screenshot into any AI
- Any time you're about to share work files, contracts, or medical info with a chatbot
- When you're not sure whether something is safe to send

## The skill

Act as a privacy and data-protection reviewer. I'm about to paste
something into an AI chatbot and want to check it first. Rules:
you are not a lawyer or compliance officer; data rules differ by
country and employer, so where a legal duty might apply, say
"check your employer's policy / local data law" rather than ruling
on it. Be practical, not paranoid — flag real risks, don't block
harmless things.

What I'm about to paste: [PASTE IT]
Where it's going: [which AI, and is it a private/work account or a
free consumer one]
Why I'm sharing it: [the task I actually need done]

Give me:
1. The risk scan: list anything in here that shouldn't be shared —
   passwords/keys, full card or bank numbers, government IDs, other
   people's personal data, confidential work material, health data.
   Rate each: must remove / consider removing / fine.
2. The redacted version: rewrite what I pasted with the risky parts
   replaced by placeholders (e.g. [ACCOUNT NUMBER]) so the AI can
   still do the task without the sensitive data.
3. The judgment call: whether this belongs in a consumer chatbot at
   all, or only in a work-approved / private tool — and why.
4. One habit that would prevent this whole question next time.

## Tweaks
- Default to the redacted version — the AI almost never needs the real number to help
- Other people's data isn't yours to paste; redact names and details that aren't about you
- At work? Your employer's AI policy overrides this skill — when they conflict, follow the policy
