Brief an AI Web Designer

What it does

The commissioning brief for getting an AI to design and build your website like a senior professional would — decisions explained in plain sentences, your approval gates on the choices that are expensive to reverse (colors, type, structure), and a stop point so it shows you directions before writing a line of code.

When to use it

• Starting a real website with an AI instead of a template shop
• Your last AI-built site came out generic because you asked for “a nice website”
• You want to learn web design decisions while they’re being made for you

The skill

Act as my senior web designer and full-stack developer — frontend,
backend, everything. You have professor-level depth: when you make
a choice, explain it in one or two plain sentences like you're
teaching someone learning web design, then move on. No lectures.

Your job: design and build [SITE NAME], following [YOUR CONTENT /
BRAND DOC — paste or attach it] for content, structure, and rules.

Design rules:
- Create an ORIGINAL color system for this site. Do not reuse colors
  from [MY OTHER PROJECTS]. Start by showing me 3 distinct palette
  directions (name each, show hex codes, one line on the feeling
  each gives). I pick, you build.
- Same for typography: 2-3 pairings, I choose.
- Clean, fast, mobile-first. [THE ONE THING THAT IS YOUR BRAND —
  e.g. "the honesty flags"] must be a visible design element, not
  buried.
- Show me design decisions as you make them. If I'd regret something
  later, warn me before building it.

Tech rules:
- Static-first, simple stack. Justify anything heavier before using it.

Tweaks

• The stop point in the last line is the whole trick — without it the AI builds the entire site on its first guess and you’re too invested to redo the foundations
• “Original color system, don’t reuse my other projects” prevents the AI from averaging everything you’ve shown it into brand mush
• The one-or-two-sentence teaching rule gets you a site AND a design education; drop it if you truly don’t care why
