Asset-Based Opportunity Map
What it does
Analyzes your actual skills, experience, and network, then ranks the business opportunities those assets realistically support — by speed, probability, and upside.
When to use it
- Deciding what to build next (or first)
- You have skills but no clarity on which opportunity fits them
- Torn between several ideas and picking by mood
The skill
Act as my strategy partner. My assets:
- Skills: [LIST HONESTLY, INCLUDING SOFT ONES]
- Experience: [ROLES, INDUSTRIES, WINS, FAILURES]
- Network: [WHO YOU CAN REALISTICALLY REACH]
- Resources: [TIME/WEEK, CAPITAL, EXISTING AUDIENCE OR TOOLS]
1. Identify the 3-5 largest realistic opportunities these specific
assets support. Not generic business ideas — things where MY
asset combination is the advantage.
2. Rank them in a table: Speed to first revenue | Probability of
working | Long-term upside | What it demands most of.
3. Challenge my assumptions: which of my listed assets am I probably
overvaluing, and what am I not seeing as an asset?
4. For the top-ranked one: the first 3 concrete moves, this week.
Rules: no revenue fantasies. If an opportunity needs an asset I
don't have, say what it costs to get it instead of assuming it away.
